Argentina’s Tres Monos wins Art of Hospo title in World’s 50 Best Bars

Tres Monos in Buenos Aires has been rated the single best bar hospitality experience in the world, winning Michter’s Art of Hospitality Award as part of The World’s 50 Best Bars 2023.

It was selected by The World’s 50 Best Bars Academy, which is made up of more than 650 anonymous industry experts, who are asked to name the bar where they received the single-best hospitality experience during the voting period.

Opened in 2019, Tres Monos is a compact neighbourhood bar in the vibrant Palermo Soho barrio of Buenos Aires. It is celebrated for its low-fi neon aesthetic, playful punk ethos, a soundtrack straight from the ‘90s and a concise menu of democratic signatures that riff on the classics.

The bar’s passionate commitment to its community has resulted not only in deep ties to local producers, showcasing the diversity of native Argentinian ingredients, but in a thriving bartender training programme in the under-served Mugica district of the capital.

Co-founders and owners Charly Aguinsky and Sebastián Atienza comment: “Argentina and Latin America stand out for the hospitality of its people. In Tres Monos particularly, we believe hospitality is the most important thing in a bar because people might forget what they had to drink but they won’t forget how you made them feel.

“That was our primary goal when we opened the bar: to make people feel welcomed in every situation; hence receiving the Michter’s Art of Hospitality Award is the ultimate accolade for us as a group. This makes us feel really proud of what we’ve built, and we are grateful to the amazing team working with us, who make Tres Monos what it is today.”

The list of The World’s 50 Best Bars 2023 will be revealed on 17 October in Singapore, marking the first time the event has been held outside Europe.
