A New Zealand-made vodka centred on the female palate has been launched by businesswoman Sharon Hunter.
Vodkher is described as “a female founded, designed and distilled vodka”, which Hunter has created alongside Waiheke Island craft distiller and botanicals expert Jill Mulvaney, and manufacturing distiller Caci Erasmus. It is being distributed through Blanc Beverages.
Vodkher came out of the idea of women being more sensitive to taste and smell and a way to explore female palate-led product design.
Hunter says the vodka, made with a combination of 10 botanicals, is designed for serving on ice, rather than being hidden in a mixer.
“Vodkher is the centrepiece. By becoming the first brand to treat the female palate as the gold standard for taste, we’ve made something that pushes the boundaries in the category and gives women their own seat at the bar,” she says.
“It has been built at every key touch point by female experts, for the elevated female palate. You won’t find lazy, syrupy fruit blends or diet expressions. Nor is it a tweaked recipe of something done before. It’s been built from scratch for our elevated female tastes.”
