New winemaker joins Gibbston Valley

Gibbston Valley Wines has appointed winemaker Theresa Woessner to its winemaking team ahead of the growing season.

Woessner joins multi-award-winning chief winemaker Christopher Keys, who says he is delighted to welcome her to the close-knit Gibbston Valley organic winemaking team.

“It feels like a pivotal time for us, and introducing Theresa has been invigorating,” he says. “She brings a fresh perspective and dynamic to our winemaking process.”

Winemaker Theresa Woessner has joined Gibbston Valley Wines.

US-born Woessner studied viticulture and winemaking at the Nelson Marlborough Institute of Technology and holds a degree in Hospitality Management from the University of South Carolina.

Her international vintage experience includes Domaine Hudelot-Baillet in Chambolle-Musigny, Burgundy, Brittan Vineyards in Oregon, and organic Sonoma Coast producer Peay Vineyards.

In Central Otago, she has worked with Burn Cottage, Central Otago Wine Company, Domaine Thomson Wines and most recently as assistant winemaker at Carrick Winery. Together, these roles have given her extensive experience across organic and biodynamic vineyards and wineries.

Woessner says she’s excited to join Gibbston Valley. “It’s an honour to contribute to such an iconic Central Otago wine brand and join this passionate winemaking team.”
