Registrations open for 47th World Congress of Vine and Wine
The International Organisation of Vine and Wine (OIV) has announced the opening of registrations for the 47th World Congress of Vine and Wine, which will take place from 12-16 October 2026 in Yinchuan, Ningxia (People's Republic of China).
Under the theme “Shaping new paradigms for the global Vine and Wine sector: transforming to meet challenges, innovating to ignite vitality, and sustaining to anchor a shared future”, the Congress will bring together scientists, researchers, policymakers and professionals from around the world to exchange knowledge and explore innovative solutions for the future of the global vine and wine sector.
The Congress will be structured around four scientific sessions addressing the major challenges and opportunities facing the sector:
• Viticulture: integrated approaches to resilient and sustainable grape
production;
• Oenology: technical innovation and adapting oenology to the future of wine;
• Economy & Law: resilient legal and economic models in a changing market;
• Safety & Health: better production, better consumption – health and social sustainability at the heart of the vitivinicultural chain.
Organisers say the scientific programme will reflect the breadth and diversity of current research, with 271 oral presentations and 149 posters, coming from 35 countries.
Yvette van der Merwe, President of the OIV, says this year’s event has special importance. “This Congress marks a particularly meaningful moment for the global vitivinicultural community as we gather in China, a country whose growing engagement within the international vine and wine sector reflects both dynamism and opportunity. Following China’s recent accession to the OIV, this Congress symbolises an important strengthening of international collaboration and dialogue across our diverse and interconnected sector.”
