DB launches world’s #1 RTD brand in NZ

White Claw, the biggest RTD brand in the world, is set to launch in New Zealand this week through DB Breweries.

Originally launched in Canada in 2016, White Claw has had explosive growth in overseas markets such as the US, the UK and Australia. It has reached cult-like status through an amalgamation of internet virality and meme culture, global media mentions, celebrity endorsement and worldwide demand.

White Claw holds more than 55% of the USA market, and 30% of the Australian market since its launch there in 2020. It will be available in liquor stores across New Zealand from Friday 19 April.

White Claw is made from sparkling water, balanced with a pure alcohol base, under 100 calories and will initially be available in a 355ml can 4-pack in three flavours: Lime, Mango and Raspberry.

DB Breweries Senior Marketing Manager, Cormac van den Hoofdakker, says they are thrilled to be bringing such an iconic RTD brand to New Zealand. “We’ve learned through consistent and thorough research and social listening that Kiwis are familiar with White Claw and have been demanding its presence here for some time.

“This will bring a significant shake-up to the RTD market in New Zealand and we have no doubt it will be incredibly well-received by our customers and partners,” he says.

A White Claw concept store with advance stock was open for three days in Auckland’s Newmarket shopping district in early April.
