Kiwi gin on top of the world at IWSC 2026

A New Zealand gin has come out on top of the world at IWSC 2026 – scoring the most points of any gin entered in the global competition.

Navy Gin from Tauranga’s Clarity Distilling was awarded 99 points and Gold Outstanding. Ten other gins achieved 98 points and Gold Outstanding, including Awildian Coromandel Mānuka Gin from The Coromandel Distilling Co.

Clarity Distilling and The Coromandel Distilling Co. were the only New Zealand distilleries to achieve Gold Outstanding for spirits at this year’s event.

Gold medals were also awarded to:

·       Island Navy Gin (97 points)

·       Broken Heart Spirits Navy Strength Gin (97 points)

·       Island Original Gin (96 points)

·       Roots Marlborough Dry Gin (95 points).

Gold Outstanding and Gold medal winners are reviewed by the IWSC Judging Committee for trophy consideration with results to be announced in November.

Paul Schneider and Daniela Suess, co-owners of Coromandel Distilling Company, say that the IWSC results show that New Zealand micro distilleries are capturing recognition and accolades, proving their prowess on the global stage.

“New Zealand has emerged as a powerhouse in the global gin scene, not just for the quality of our products but also for our commitment to the land from which they come,” says Schneider. “Our success reflects a love for craftsmanship, the wilderness and the adventurous spirit of our distillation journey. We are incredibly proud to represent New Zealand on the world stage.”
